BERGMANS SCOTT FINE ARTS
About us
Bergmans Scott Fine Arts presents an eclectic, carefully selected collection that transcends the boundaries between eras, cultures, and artistic disciplines. The gallery specializes in exceptional pieces from the Haute Époque, particularly medieval and Renaissance art, complemented by rare objects from the Wunderkammer, testifying to the fascination with the unique and the curious.
Furthermore, Bergmans Scott Fine Arts focuses on art and antiquities from the Grand Tour period—objects testifying to the spirit of discovery and European collecting culture from the 17th to the 19th centuries—as well as tribal art of great aesthetic and historical value, with particular attention to authenticity, ritual significance, and formal power.
These diverse disciplines are brought together in a refined and inspiring ensemble, where the dialogue between the old and the new, the known and the unknown, is central. Bergmans Scott Fine Arts invites collectors, enthusiasts, and the curious to be amazed by a world where art and history meet in fascinating ways.

Tibetan Gilt-Bronze Buddha, 17th–18th Century
“A Tibetan gilt-bronze figure of Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha), 17th–18th century. Cast in bronze and richly gilded, the Buddha is shown seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims. His right hand reaches downward in the bhumisparsha mudra, calling the earth to witness his enlightenment, while his left hand rests in his lap holding a medicine bowl symbolizing healing nectar. The serene facial expression, elongated earlobes, and prominent ushnisha exemplify Tibetan Buddhist iconography of the period. The gilt surface, combined with the softly modeled features and robust lotus base, reflect the craftsmanship of Tibetan or Sino-Tibetan ateliers active during the 17th–18th centuries.”

Songye standing male ‘Nkishi’ power figure from the D.R Congo
This is a Songye Nkishi power figure from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The statue depicts a male figure, standing upright on a solid base. The posture is powerful: the arms rest firmly against the torso and the hands point toward the abdomen, where a small, round charge (bishimba, a spiritual substance) is placed. The face is expressive and geometrically stylized, with a high nose, carved eyes, and a strikingly elongated neck. The sculpture is dark in color with reddish-brown accents, giving it an intense, almost glowing character. Traces of use and patina show that this object was more than decorative—it was intended to carry spiritual power and offer protection or guidance. The large feet and compact proportions give the figure a solid, almost immovable appearance. Micromosaic table attributed to the Atelier of Michelangelo Barberi (1787-1867)
Circular table top with an exceptionally finely executed micromosaic composition, set on Belgian black marble. The central field depicts a rich bouquet of flowers and fruits – including roses, grapes, citrus fruits and peaches – rendered with remarkable detail and subtle colour gradation. The border consists of geometric ornaments in green, blue, red and gold. The quality and refinement of the mosaic, together with the vividness and harmony of the composition, are characteristic of the workshop of Michelangelo Barberi (1787–1867), one of the most renowned masters of Roman micromosaic art in the 19th century. Works of this type were frequently produced for Grand Tour travellers as prestigious souvenirs of Italy.
