Victorin Sabatier – Silver Art Nouveau Letter Opener
An elegant Art Nouveau letter opener by Victorin Sabatier, crafted in silver and featuring a stylized bat.
An elegant silver letter opener (coupe-papier) designed by Victorin Sabatier. The elongated design is dominated by a finely modelled bat with fully outstretched wings, with delicate engraving and relief work beautifully capturing the texture of the wings and body. The combination of the animal motif and the stylized, almost symmetrical composition is characteristic of the Art Nouveau aesthetic.
The letter opener is crafted in 800/1000 silver and signed “Sabatier”. It is further struck with the maker’s mark and the French silver hallmark tête de sanglier (boar’s head).
