      antiques by the sea

Antiques by the Sea was founded by Peter Andeweg, a passionate dealer, researcher, and specialist in antique arms and related objects. Together with his wife, Chantal Andeweg, they form a dedicated team focused on the fascinating niche of Oriental, tribal, and ethnographic weapons and works of art. Our collection includes unique pieces from Europe, Africa, the Islamic world, Asia, and Oceania, with a particular emphasis on objects that reflect their cultural influence and history through colonial exchange or historical trade routes. A carefully curated selection of these works will be showcased during our participation in Antica Namur 2025.

      Artimo Fine Art Gallery

Artimo Fine Art was founded in 1985 by Mr. Luc Van Cauwenbergh, continuing the legacy of his father, Mr. Marcel Van Cauwenbergh—an industrialist and devoted art collector. This deep-seated tradition of artistic appreciation and connoisseurship has been carefully cultivated and passed down through three generations. Today, the gallery is under the direction of Mr. Georges Van Cauwenbergh, son of Luc Van Cauwenbergh. Situated in the heart of Brussels’ historic Sablon district—renowned for its rich heritage in art and antiques—Artimo Fine Art has long established itself as a vital presence within the local and international art scenes. In its early years, the gallery specialized in horology from the 16th to the 20th century, as well as sculpture dating from the 1800s to the 1950s. Over time, Artimo Fine Art refined its curatorial direction to focus exclusively on sculpture, becoming a distinguished reference point for collectors and scholars alike. A significant chapter in the gallery’s history was marked in 2017 with the opening of a new space at 55 Rue Lebeau, housed in a listed heritage building. The exceptional renovation of the premises was honoured by the City of Brussels with a prestigious architectural award. To commemorate this milestone, the gallery inaugurated the space with a landmark exhibition entitled Living Marble, featuring 60 marble sculptures exclusively by Belgian artists, accompanied by a dedicated scholarly publication. This exhibition affirmed the gallery’s profound commitment to marble sculpture and underscored its curatorial rigor and expertise. Until 2018, Artimo Fine Art maintained a discreet profile, operating primarily through consignment partnerships with other galleries and conducting private sales. However, beginning in 2019, under the visionary leadership of Georges Van Cauwenbergh, the gallery embraced a more prominent and proactive role within the art world. Since then, it has joined several respected art dealer associations, assumed leadership roles in major art events, and participated in prominent international art fairs. This strategic evolution has reinforced Artimo Fine Art’s position as a leading institution in the field, allowing it to broaden its influence and further its mission: to promote, preserve, and celebrate the legacy of 19th- and 20th-century sculpture.

      Arts d'australie - Stephane Jacob

Amazed by Aboriginal art during a stay in Australia, Stéphane Jacob-Langevin founded one of the first art galleries specialising in Aboriginal and Western Australian art in Paris in 1996: Arts d'Australie - Stéphane Jacob. By setting up his gallery in a flat, Stéphane Jacob is considered a pioneer. In an intimate setting, he introduces art lovers to Aboriginal art by organising presentation evenings, thereby forging special relationships with his collectors. In 2022, Arts d'Australie - Stéphane Jacob decided to consolidate its exhibition programme by setting up in the Marais district. Stéphane Jacob-Langevin contributes to the recognition of Aboriginal culture. As a recognised European expert in the field with decades of experience in the art market, Stéphane Jacob-Langevin works with various museums in Europe to develop their collections of Aboriginal art with hundreds of pieces, including the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, Les Abattoirs in Toulouse, the Musée d'Ethnographie de Genève in Switzerland and the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris. Arts of Australia - Stéphane Jacob is deeply involved in defending the environment, a battle that is close to the hearts of Torres Strait Islander artists. In 2016, Stéphane Jacob-Langevin was appointed curator of a permanent exhibition entitled ‘Australia: Defending the Oceans at the Heart of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art’ at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco; thanks to its success, thirteen other institutions invited the exhibition, including the UN headquarters in New York. Stéphane Jacob-Langevin is the author of the reference work on Aboriginal arts published by Scala. He also publishes artists' monographs. For his services to Aboriginal arts and to Australia, Stéphane Jacob-Langevin was made an honorary member of the Order of Australia in 2018 - a distinction usually awarded to Australian citizens. He is a member of La Chambre des Experts Spécialisés en Objets d'Art et de Collection (C.N.E.S) and a member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d'Art.
