Vue depuis le premier jour du reste de ma vie, Christophe de Fierlant
A vibrant inner landscape where color and matter open the horizon of a new beginning.
In *View from the First Day of the Rest of My Life*, Christophe de Fierlant draws us into a landscape that seems to belong as much to the visible world as to that of memory and emotion. The canvas is built up through a profusion of touches, marks, and colors. Pinks, greens, blues, reds, and ochres overlap, respond to one another, and almost imperceptibly reveal a depth. In the midst of this abundant material, a lighter area opens the composition like a horizon, a breath of fresh air. The title lends this vision an intimate dimension: *The First Day of the Rest of My Life*. It invites us to view the work as a passage from one state to another, a moment where something can begin again. The landscape then becomes less a specific place than a mental space, traversed by memory, movement, and the possibility of renewal. The materiality of the work fully contributes to this sensation. The unpainted support, with its irregular edges and visible traces, distances the painting from the perfectly controlled image. The color seems to have been deposited gradually, layer upon layer, like memories are built up. A generous and deeply sensitive work, where the apparent chaos of color ultimately gives rise to a horizon.
